Employment History
Upon graduating from Towson State University Joseph Karsner stayed home in the state of Maryland, and accepted a position with the prestigious John Hancock Insurance Company. While at John Hancock, Karsner sold life insurance, long term care solutions and fixed annuities. He also served as a registered representative, marketing variable annuity mutual funds to clients and other interested parties. Throughout his tenure with John Hancock, Karsner also served as a mentor for many other agents.
His lengthy career at John Hancock was not without merit and accolades. In 1982, after only two short years of employment with John Hancock, Karsner won the Rookie of the Year award from Baltimore Life Underwriters. But the accolades didn’t end there. Beginning in 1986, Karsner was Baltimore General Insurance’s #1 agent for 13 years in a row, ending only in 1999 when he left John Hancock to start Joe Karsner & Associates. At John Hancock, Karsner made #1 mutual fund representative in 1998, and received numerous awards, such as induction to the President’s Cabinet, the National Sales Achievement Award, and the National Quality Award.
Perhaps one of his most proud accomplishments was Mr. Karsner’s induction into the Million Dollar Round Table’s pinnacle “Top of the Table” club. The Million Dollar Round Table (or MDRT) is the world’s most prestigious association of financial professionals. Comprising of less than the world’s top one-percent of financial professionals, MDRT membership is open only to qualifying individuals who meet financial and volume criteria set by the MDRT. Qualifying individuals must then apply and be approved, based upon further criteria such as the highest of ethical standards, impeccable customer service and a mastery of the services and solutions they provide. Clients know when they see the MDRT seal on member’s brochures and business literature they are dealing with simply the best the industry has to offer. Mr. Karsner has been a proud member of the MDRT since 1984, and a “Top of the Table” member since 1996.
Joe Karsner is also a long-time member of several prestigious organizations for financial advising professionals and small business professionals. He has been a member of the Baltimore Life Underwriters Association since 1980, and a member of the National Association of Life Underwriters and Advisors since 1980 as well. In 1996, Mr. Karsner became a member of the Strategic Coach Program, an entrepreneurial organization that helps business owners get the most out of their business and free time. The Strategic Coach program was co-founded by one of Mr. Karsner’s favorite authors, Dan Sullivan.
Joe Karsner has also been a member of the USA Tax and Insurance Company since 2003 and a member of the West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce (WAACCC) since 1999. The WAACCC represents more than 400 businesses in an area of nearly 100k residents.
